Jesse Rogerson is an Assistant Professor in the Teaching Stream at York University. He is passionate about science, education, and communication, focusing on creating conversations around the intersection of science and society, and making science relevant in daily lives. His PhD research examined quasars and supermassive black holes at the centers of distant galaxies, using telescopes in Hawaii, Chile, Arizona, and California to monitor black holes over short and long periods. This research provided insights into quasar winds and predicted behaviors on various time scales. In addition to his research, Jesse has worked with Canada’s leading science museums, engaging diverse audiences on topics related to astronomy, planetary science, and space sciences. He is dedicated to studying science communication theory and pedagogy. Jesse teaches courses such as History of Astronomy (NATS1745) and Exploring the Solar System (NATS1570).
