Biography

Dr. Jesse Young is an Associate Professor in the Epidemiology Division at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and a Scientist at the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. He specializes in psychiatric epidemiology with a focus on data linkage methodology. Dr. Young has held adjunct positions at various institutions, including the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, the University of Western Australia, and others. He has contributed to 155 scholarly works, including 108 peer-reviewed publications, and has secured $9.7 million in competitive research funding. He is a member of the International Scientific Advisory Committee for the Christchurch Health Development Study and has delivered numerous seminars and lectures both nationally and internationally. His research has significantly influenced guidelines on substance use disorder treatment and health service access for formerly incarcerated individuals. In recognition of the impact of his work, he received the Victorian Premier’s Award for Health Medical Research Public Health Research in 2020.
