Dr. Jessica Almqvist

Biography

Jessica Almqvist is a Professor at Lund University, where she serves as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law and Deputy Coordinator of the Master's Programme in International Human Rights Law. Her research focuses on areas of international law, particularly relating to human rights, humanitarian law, and criminal justice. With extensive publications in high-ranked journals and books, she has collaborated on impactful research funded by various international foundations and government entities. Almqvist has a proven track record of supervising doctoral theses, currently overseeing five ongoing projects. She has taught at several prestigious institutions and has been involved in prominent research positions, including a senior lecturer role at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Almqvist obtained her law degree and PhD from Lund University and European University Institute, respectively, with a dissertation focused on human rights and cultural diversity. Her professional activities include expert participation in high-level workshops and conferences, contributing to the advancement of international law and human rights, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
