Biography

Jessica Bastiaansen is an Assistant Professor and SNSF Eccellenza Fellow at the University of Bern in the Department of Diagnostic, Interventional Pediatric Radiology. Her research focuses on the development of innovative MRI approaches that disentangle multi-compartment signal sources, leading to unbiased non-invasive quantification biomarkers for disease, and improving diagnosis and therapy. She has secured patents related to MRI technology and has obtained approximately 3.7 million CHF in research funding as the main principal investigator. Her extensive experience includes imaging across a wide range of magnetic fields using both pre-clinical (3T, 9.4T, 11.7T, 14T) and clinical (1.5T, 3T, 7T) systems at various international research sites. Jessica has been recognized for her contributions in the field as a Junior Fellow of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance Medicine in 2019, signifying her outstanding researcher quality and promise. She is also a member of the Annual Meeting Program Committee for ISMRM, where she co-organizes the yearly scientific meetings.
