Biography

Jessica Church-Lang is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research primarily focuses on cognitive processes as they develop with age, with a strong emphasis on atypical development and its implications for typical cognitive growth. Church-Lang's lab investigates the development of cognitive skills such as task switching and reading during late childhood and early adolescence. She is currently leading the neuroimaging segment of a project aimed at improving fourth-grade reading through innovative intervention strategies. This research explores how adaptive control brain networks develop and interact with age and typical versus atypical developmental trajectories. With a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Washington University in St. Louis obtained in 2008, and a B.A. in Neuroscience and Psychology from Smith College in 2002, Church-Lang has established herself as a leading academic in developmental cognitive neuroscience.
