Dr. Jessica D'elena Tweed

Biography

Jessica D'Elena-Tweed is a multi-disciplinary artist, designer, and educator. She received her BFA in Studio Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and her MFA in Design from the California Institute of the Arts. Jessica has held faculty positions at the Art Center College of Design and the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). She has collaborated with renowned designers and artists, producing cultural and commercial works for Thom Mayne, Morphosis Architects, Lorraine Wild, Green Dragon Office, Mike Kelley, and George Porcari, among others. In her design practice, she maintains creative direction in branding, advertising, and commercial projects that have gained recognition with national clients. For the past five years, she has dedicated herself to academia as a faculty member in the Speculative Design program within the Visual Arts Department at UCSD. There, she teaches courses such as Design Communication, Urban Ecologies, Public Culture, and Speculative Methodologies. Her research explores models of convergence, integration, and synthesis of divergent forms, examining the interplay between graphic design and architecture, as well as how the human body absorbs emerging technology. Her ongoing exploration is framed under a project titled HY/SY/SYN: Museum Postman Phenomenology Parallels.
