Biography

Jessica Havens earned a Master of Arts in Religion from Colgate University in 2012 and a Bachelor of Arts in Art from the University of Minnesota. She began teaching at Texas A&M University in the fall of 2014 as part of the Religious Studies Program. By fall 2015, she was awarded a joint appointment in the Department of Communication and Journalism. Jessica's teaching focuses on religious communication, the intersection of religion and the arts, and contemplation and meditation practices as they relate to world religions. She engages her students in critically and respectfully exploring religion within diverse contexts and forms, particularly in relation to communication issues. Additionally, Jessica has participated in creating study abroad and domestic field trip opportunities for students. She works closely with both undergraduate and graduate students, supervising internships, independent studies, honors credit, and teaching assistantships.
