Biography

Jessica Kruk is a sociolinguist lecturer in Indonesian Studies whose research focuses on identifying and addressing the exclusion of marginalized people within the social, economic, and cultural life of the Asia Pacific region. Her current projects include an investigation into the languages and identities of ethnic Chinese minorities in Indonesia and an exploration of extreme metal musicians in the Asia Pacific who write 'metal' lyrics using non-English languages. Additionally, she is involved in reimagining and reinvigorating Indonesian language teaching, enhancing communication and fighting prejudice among the general public.
