Biography

Jessica Leake received a Bachelor of Science from the University of New South Wales, graduating with Honours Class 1 and was awarded the University Medal in Psychology. After her graduation, she commenced her PhD in Behavioural Neuroscience at the University of Sydney, where her thesis examined fear memories processed by the hippocampus. After completing her PhD, she returned to the University of New South Wales for a post-doctoral position, conducting research exploring the links between repeated frightening experiences and the amygdala. Currently, her research interests focus on understanding how positive and negative experiences interact to regulate memory mechanisms, particularly the roles of context and time in memory formation and recall. Her work has been published in various prestigious journals and includes topics such as memory consolidation, reconsolidation, and the molecular substrates of conditioned fear.
