Jessica Lundquist is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Washington. She earned her B.S. in Atmospheric Science from the University of California, Davis in 1999, her M.S. in Oceanography from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego in 2000, and her Ph.D. in Oceanography from SIO in 2004. Her graduate work focused on diurnal cycles in mountain streamflow and coastal fog. Following her Ph.D., she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Lundquist joined the University of Washington as an Assistant Professor in 2006, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2011, and became a full Professor thereafter. Her research is centered on spatial patterns of snow and their hydrometeorological effects on streamflow and water resources amid a changing climate. She has received several accolades, including the Cryosphere Young Investigator Award from the American Geophysical Union in 2008 and the Water Resources Research Editor’s Choice Award in 2014. In addition to research, she enjoys teaching, hiking, skiing, and playing the piano.
