Biography

Jessica Parish is an Assistant Professor at Carleton University's School of Public Policy and Administration, specializing in urban local governance, gentrification, environmental sustainability, environmental justice, housing issues, social reproduction, financialization, and the impacts of settler colonialism. She teaches courses that explore the complexities of local urban governance and sustainability. Jessica has previously served as a Marie Curie International Fellow at the Centre for Urban Research Austerity (CURA) in De Montfort University, Leicester, England. Her research integrates feminist theories with analyses of social and environmental justice, examining the intersections of housing and financial systems. Throughout her career, she has held policy positions, including Vice-Chair on the Board of Directors at the Toronto-based Federation Metro Tenants’ Associations. Jessica has received numerous accolades, including grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the European Commission's Horizon 2020 program.
