Biography

Jessica L. Petrick is an Assistant Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in hematology and medical oncology. She holds a PhD from the University of North Carolina and an MPH from Case Western Reserve University. Her research primarily focuses on the epidemiology of gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal, liver, and esophageal cancers. In 2019, she became a co-investigator for the Black Women’s Health Study (BWHS) after completing a post-doctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in 2014. She has led numerous studies on the nutritional and molecular factors associated with cancer disparities, contributing to our understanding of the continuum from precursor lesions to invasive cancer mortality. Dr. Petrick is a faculty member at the Slone Epidemiology Center and actively participates in grant-funded projects aimed at understanding cancer risk factors, particularly in underserved populations. Her work has resulted in significant peer-reviewed publications and she is committed to mentoring undergraduates and post-doctoral fellows in her field.
