Biography

Jessica Soedirgo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam. She is part of the Transnational Configurations, Conflict Governance program group, focusing on the dynamics of intergroup violence, state repression, and the political aspects of religion and minority groups. Jessica's research particularly examines how and why ethnic and religious minorities become victims of violence and repression, as well as the responses of these minorities to such challenges. She has published her findings in various academic journals, such as Citizenship Studies and Southeast Asia Research, and has been supported by grants from the Dutch Research Council and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Jessica holds a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, awarded in 2020, and is recognized for her contributions to the field of political violence, having received the Aaron Wildavsky Dissertation Award from the American Political Science Association in 2022.
