Biography

Jessica L. Taylor, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine at Boston University, specializing in General Internal Medicine. She completed her medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and her residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Taylor is a board-certified Addiction Specialist and her clinical focus includes caring for patients with substance use disorders, HIV, and viral hepatitis. Her research interests are centered around HIV prevention in individuals who inject drugs, the implementation of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), low-barrier treatment models for substance use disorders, and overdose prevention strategies. Notably, she is the Co-Director of the Care Continuum Core at the Massachusetts site of the NIDA-funded Healing Communities Study, aiming to reduce fatal opioid overdoses by 40%. In her role, she also serves as the Medical Director at the Faster Paths Treatment clinic at Boston Medical Center, which provides a low-barrier approach to substance use disorder treatment. Additionally, Dr. Taylor directs the HIV Prevention Programs at BMC, overseeing educational initiatives and mentorship for internal medicine residents interested in primary care related to HIV and substance use. She is actively involved in various research projects and has a strong commitment to mentoring medical students and residents in the field.
