Biography

Jessica Wade is an Assistant Professor and Royal Society University Research Fellow at Imperial College London, specializing in Functional Materials. Her research focuses on novel materials for optoelectronic and spintronic quantum devices, specifically chiral molecular materials. Previously, she was a Research Fellow in the SPIN-Lab at Imperial, where she worked under Professor Sandrine Heutz. Jessica has also served as a postdoctoral researcher in the Fuchter and Campbell groups at Imperial College London, where she optimized chiral systems for the absorption and emission of circularly polarized light in devices such as CP OLEDs and OPDs. She completed her PhD in the development of organic photovoltaics with advanced characterization techniques to understand molecular packing under the supervision of Dr. Ji-Seon Kim. Jessica is also dedicated to science communication and outreach initiatives, having written Wikipedia biographies for women and scientists of color since 2018, to improve diversity in science.
