Jessica is a conservation biologist with a particular interest in studying biodiversity in response to local and global drivers of change, and the impacts on nature’s contributions to people. During her fellowship, she is exploring the Anthropocene landscape permeability of species critical to human health and well-being, particularly those affecting food system sustainability and zoonotic disease risk. Jessica is also focused on the use of novel AI-assisted monitoring technologies to enhance conservation efforts and promote the ethical, equitable use of AI. She serves as a Sustainability Champion and the Silwood Park Fellows Representative in the Department of Life Sciences. Additionally, Jessica is involved with several committees, including the Early Career Researcher Institute Committee and the EDI Committee of the Department of Life Sciences. Outside of her research, she is an active volunteer with the British Ecological Society, serving as an early career representative, and participates in outreach initiatives as a STEM Ambassador and Climate Ambassador, while mentoring students through Brightside Online Mentoring.
