Biography

Xi Jessie Yang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan. She joined the faculty in 2016 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She earned her PhD in 2014, MEng in 2009 in Human Factors Engineering, and BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2006 from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Dr. Yang's research is centered around understanding human interactions, including human-human, human-autonomy, and human-robot interactions. Her goal is to comprehend the underlying mechanisms that govern these interactions and propose design solutions that facilitate better interaction. She has published works on human factors and engineering design in various venues that focus on human-robot interaction.
