Biography

Dr. Linley received a Master of Science in Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces from Imperial College in 2017 and completed his Ph.D. in gravitational wave data analysis at the University of Glasgow in 2022. His doctoral work consisted of a deep analysis of a broad range of physical phenomena and the theories that imprint gravitational wave signals, which led to the development of a novel technique that simplifies difficult computational problems related to the data analysis of these signals, resulting in him being awarded the prestigious Kelvin Award for his thesis. In 2023, he joined the School of Mathematics and Statistics as a Research Associate, where he is currently working on modeling carbon emissions associated with UK household energy consumption in partnership with NatWest Group. His research interests primarily focus on statistical modeling and predictive analytics, particularly in the context of energy systems and environmental data. He is particularly interested in the development and evaluation of statistical machine learning models, with a strong emphasis on handling uncertainty, structured data dependencies, and model interpretability.
