Biography

Ji E. Chang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Policy and Management at the New York University School of Global Public Health, where she serves as the director of the public health policy management concentration within the Ph.D. program. Chang employs mixed-methods research designs that utilize qualitative, quantitative, and geospatial data to demonstrate disparities and highlight barriers faced by safety net providers and underserved patients in accessing equitable care. She is the principal investigator for the AI4Healthy Cities Initiative in New York City, a multi-city collaboration involving the Novartis Foundation and Microsoft AI4Health, aimed at reducing cardiovascular health inequities through big data analytics. Additionally, she serves as co-principal investigator on an NIH NIDA-funded study focused on implementing transitional opioid programs in safety net hospitals. Chang holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley, an M.S. in Public Policy Management from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Ph.D. in Public Administration from New York University. She has received notable recognitions such as the Governor’s Scholar award in 2007 and the Regents Chancellor’s Scholar award in 2005.
