Biography

Jia Wen is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at Duke University. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2016. His research focuses on identifying genes required for digestive physiology and lipid metabolism. Wen has received several grants for his work, including a project on microbial regulation of intestinal lipid metabolism and its physiological consequences, funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases from 2021 to 2026. He is also investigating host-microbiota interactions in regulating apical and basolateral absorption of lipids in enterocytes, with funding from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, and a project on immune compromised zebrafish cell transplantation, awarded by Massachusetts General Hospital. His research interests lie in understanding the complexities of microbial interactions in host nutrient metabolism and exploring their implications for health and disease.
