Biography

Jiabao Xu is a lecturer in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Glasgow, having joined the institution in 2023 after completing her PhD in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford in 2020. Xu’s research also delves into cell metabolism in myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), where her pioneering techniques have led to the discovery of novel biomarkers in blood samples from ME/CFS patients. She has published 22 peer-reviewed papers and has served as a guest editor for reputable journals. Her ongoing research interests center on using single-cell technologies to advance biomedical understanding, particularly in chronic diseases and stem cell research.
