Biography

Jiachen Lu is a Research Associate at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney, where he is engaged in advanced studies within the Built Environment. He completed his Ph.D. focusing on urban canopy parameterization in complex neighborhoods at UNSW. Prior to this, he earned a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California San Diego, where his research concentrated on the parameterization of the planetary boundary layer, specifically regarding the transition process from stratocumulus to cumulus clouds. His current research interests include land surface modeling, computational fluid dynamics, and urban climatology, particularly how urban representations influence the Community Atmosphere Biosphere Land Exchange model (CABLE). Jiachen has received several academic awards, including the National 1st Prize in the Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest Modeling in China and recognition as an honor graduate for excellent academic performance in Sichuan Province.
