Biography

Jiahui (Gloria) Zhao is a Research Fellow at the University of Warwick with expertise in diamond science and technology. She obtained her Ph.D. in 2022, focusing on fluorescence, phosphorescence, and thermoluminescence in synthetic diamonds, under the supervision of Professors Mark Newton and Ben Green. Her research interests include understanding and controlling the properties of color centers in diamond and developing quantum-classical sensors that leverage the unique characteristics of diamonds. Zhao has published several papers on the topic, including research on donor-acceptor pair recombination in laboratory-grown diamonds. She has also made significant contributions in various international conferences, presenting findings on defects in nitrogen-doped CVD diamond films and their applications. Prior to her current role, she worked as a gemmologist and completed internships that have further enriched her knowledge in gemmology and material science.
