Biography

Jian Jin received a Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering from Iowa State University in 2009, a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from Denmark Technical University in 2005, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Zhejiang University in 2003. Prior to joining Purdue University, he worked as a Technology Leader at DuPont Pioneer where he led the development of automated phenotyping sensing technology, specifically focusing on hyperspectral imaging systems for automated plant screening. His major research interests at Purdue include the development of automated crop plant phenotyping systems, machine vision, data processing, statistics, and big data modeling. His work explores agricultural sensing, automation, and robotics in agriculture. He currently supervises PhD students and post-doctoral researchers in this field.
