Biography

Jian Liu completed his B.Eng. degree in Metallic Materials Engineering at Sichuan University in 2006, followed by an M.Eng. in Materials Science Engineering from the University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2009, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Western Ontario in 2013. Prior to joining the University of British Columbia (UBC) in January 2017, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Energy Environment Directorate of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the Advanced Light Source at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His research interests include advanced nanofabrication, nanomaterials, and energy storage systems, primarily focusing on atomic/molecular layer deposition, surface/interface energy systems, and the discovery of new electrode materials for batteries.
