Dr. Jian Wang

Biography

Jian (Jay) Wang is an Associate Professor at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, where he also serves as the Director of the Master of Public Diplomacy (MPD) program. With a rich background in international consulting and extensive research on communication dynamics in the context of globalization, he has authored notable works including 'Shaping China’s Global Imagination: Nation Branding at the World Expo' and has co-edited 'Debating Public Diplomacy'. His research has appeared in renowned journals such as the Journal of Communication and Management Communication Quarterly. Wang is a leader in global public diplomacy scholarship and has developed innovative, policy-relevant programs addressing key topics such as soft power and digital advocacy. He has successfully forged partnerships with significant organizations like the BBC and the United Nations Foundation. Prior to his tenure at USC, he taught at Purdue University and worked with McKinsey & Company, providing strategic communication advice across various industries.
