Biography

Jianhong Wu is a Full Professor and University Distinguished Research Professor at York University. He has served as the Director of the York Research Chair in Industrial Applied Mathematics and has held a Canada Research Chair in Industrial Applied Mathematics from 2001 to 2022. His expertise lies in developing methodologies to identify long-term dynamic scenarios within dynamical systems, particularly through the use of delay differential equations and neural network architectures for high-dimensional data pattern recognition. His work has notably focused on addressing key public health issues, including models developed during the 2003 SARS outbreak, pandemic influenza, and more recently, Covid-19 and antimicrobial resistance. Dr. Wu is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, recognized for his contributions to applied mathematics and its application in global health.
