Biography

Jianping Wang obtained his Ph.D. degree in power system automation from the University of Mons, Belgium, in 1993. He joined ABB in 1995, where he held various roles, including development engineer, application specialist, technical market manager, technical manager/director, and senior principal scientist in the power system protection domain. In 2019, he transitioned to Hitachi Energy Sweden as a senior principal scientist. With over 25 years of experience in power system protection, Jianping has a passion for bridging theoretical knowledge with practical market applications, aiming to contribute to the development of young generations of researchers and engineers. He has published more than 50 papers globally and holds more than 30 patents as an inventor or co-inventor. Jianping is a senior member of IEEE, a Fellow of IET, and a regular member of CIGRE.
