Biography

Jianwu Sun is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Semiconductor Materials division at Linköping University, where he leads the Sun Research Group focusing on Semiconductor Materials Physics and Solar Energy Conversion. He received his Docent title in 2016 and has over ten years of academic and industrial research experience in semiconductor materials, having previously worked as a Senior Researcher at IMEC in Belgium. His research primarily explores cubic silicon carbide (3C-SiC) for solar-driven energy conversion, particularly in photocatalytic photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting and CO2 reduction. His group aims to develop methods to harness solar energy to produce hydrogen and transform CO2 into chemical fuels, contributing to clean renewable energy solutions. Sun's work includes investigating the properties of 3C-SiC photoelectrodes for solar-to-fuel conversion and developing Ga2O3 solar-blind photodetectors for various applications. His publications cover topics such as semiconductor materials, physics, solar energy conversions, and photocatalytic water splitting.
