Dr. Jianyu Li

Biography

Jianyu Li is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University. He is also an Associate Member of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. His research focuses on the interdisciplinary nature of biomaterials and their application in engineering medicine. He works on developing multifunctional soft biomaterials aimed at addressing critical challenges in areas such as tissue repair, surgical glues, hemostats, and biomedical devices. His studies delve into the fundamental mechanical behaviors of soft materials, exploring aspects such as adhesion, fracture, fatigue, and stimuli-responsive behaviors. Dr. Li’s research interests include Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering, and Biomedical Devices, with an emphasis on how these fields can integrate to innovate solutions for medical technologies. He strives to synergize mechanics and materials chemistry through bioinspiration principles to enhance the performance and functionality of biomaterials.
