Biography

Jiaqi Liang is a PhD researcher in the History Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Maastricht University. His research explores the intersection of dark and difficult heritage, memory, and community well-being, with a particular focus on local communities that engage with sites of historical trauma. Jiaqi holds dual Master's degrees in Museum Heritage Development from Nottingham Trent University, UK, and in Linguistics with a specialization in Applied Linguistics for Foreign Languages from Beijing Language and Culture University, China. He is an active member of the Maastricht Centre for Arts, Culture, Conservation and Heritage, participating in the Arts, Media and Culture research programme. Additionally, he serves on the editorial team of the Chinese Leisure Academic Network, an international academic platform established for PhD students in tourism and leisure studies.
