Biography

Jie Gao received M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada in 2009 and 2014, respectively. Before joining Carleton University as an Assistant Professor, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow and research associate at Toronto Metropolitan University, University of Waterloo, and Marquette University. His research interests encompass 5G and 6G networks, machine learning in communication networking, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial IoT, network virtualization, digital twins, Artificial Intelligence (AI), network security, and satellite UAV networking. He has been involved in several editorial roles, including Lead Associate Editor for IEEE Access. Gao has also chaired multiple conferences and workshops, contributing significantly to the field of network technology, including machine learning applications. He has received multiple awards, including the IEEE OJVT Paper Award and IEEE Outstanding Service Award.
