Biography

Jie Liu's research interests span across chemistry, material science, and nanoscale materials. He is particularly focused on self-assembly nanostructures, chemical functionalization of single-walled carbon nanotubes, and the development of carbon nanotube-based chemical and biological sensors. Liu has also worked extensively on SPM-based fabrication and the modification of functional nanostructures. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Shandong University in China, followed by a Ph.D. from Harvard University. Liu has held postdoctoral research positions at Rice University and has previously been a professor at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. His work has been recognized through various awards and honors including being named a Fellow of the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
