Dr. Jie Zhang

Biography

Jie Zhang is an Assistant Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and a Principal Investigator in Nephrology at Boston Medical Center. After earning her BS degree from Jilin University in China, she completed her PhD at the University of South Florida. Dr. Zhang joined the faculty at Boston University and established an independent research laboratory in 2023. Her laboratory employs a combination of classical renal physiology techniques, such as micropuncture and microperfusion, along with cutting-edge molecular biology technologies, including single-cell RNA sequencing and genetically engineered animal models, to explore fundamental questions in the field of nephrology. Her research endeavors have garnered support from prestigious fellowships and grants, including the American Heart Association Pre-Doctoral Fellowship and the NIH-NIDDK R01 Grant. Dr. Zhang is dedicated to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment within her lab, providing opportunities for individuals from varied backgrounds to contribute to the advancement of science and ensuring that all group members feel included and valued.
