Biography

Jie Zhang is an Associate Professor and Research Director in the School of Chemistry at Monash University. He is a well-established electrochemist with a solid background in the experimental and theoretical aspects of electrochemistry. His research has led to extensive experience in biomedical engineering, materials engineering, and nanotechnology. Dr. Zhang has published six book chapters, 260 refereed journal articles, and holds eight international patents, with his work receiving more than 14,500 citations, achieving an h-index of 64 according to Google Scholar. He has received numerous fellowships and awards, including the R.H. Stokes Medal (2026) and the Monash Research Accelerator Award (2013-2014). Currently, he holds significant leadership roles in major Australian Research Council (ARC) funded research centres. His current research activities focus on electrochemical activation of small molecules, novel nanocomposite catalysts for pharmaceuticals and energy applications, and developing artificial intelligence methods for quantitative voltametric data analysis. Dr. Zhang is committed to contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals through his research.
