Biography

Jill De Jong is an Associate Professor at the University of Chicago in the Department of Pediatrics-Hematology Oncology. She specializes in treating children with various types of cancer and blood diseases. Dr. De Jong's expertise includes bone marrow failure, leukemia, autoimmune blood diseases, hemoglobinopathies, and bleeding/clotting disorders. Her research centers around hematopoietic stem cells and the genetic risks associated with hematologic malignancies, focusing on the genetic causes of aplastic anemia. She serves as the co-director of the Pediatric Cancer Genetic Risk clinic and directs the Pediatric Bone Marrow Failure clinic. Her education includes training at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children’s Hospital, where she completed her fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. She also held a residency in Pediatrics and earned her MD and PhD in Medicine and Cancer Biology, respectively, from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Chicago. Dr. De Jong has received several awards, including being named a Regional Top Doctor in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
