Jill E. Fisch is an internationally known scholar whose work focuses on the intersection of business law and the role of regulation and litigation in addressing the limitations of disciplinary power in capital markets. She has written over 100 scholarly articles and book chapters that have appeared in top law reviews, including Harvard Law Review, Yale Law Journal, University of Pennsylvania Law Review, and Texas Law Review. Her work is regularly featured on the Corporate Practice Commentator’s list of the 'Top Ten Corporate Securities Articles' and has been cited by a variety of courts, including the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fourth, Fifth, Seventh, and Ninth Circuits, the Delaware Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court of Utah. Her current projects include a focus on developments in ESG (environmental, social, governance) investing and the Securities and Exchange Commission’s regulatory responses, as well as ongoing work on the evolving role of institutional investors in corporate governance and the growing importance of retail investors. Fisch is engaged in a series of experimental projects studying retail investor decision-making and has traveled extensively across Europe and Asia to teach, lecture, and meet with scholars and regulators on issues involving comparative corporate governance and the globalization of capital markets. Before joining Penn, she served as the T.J. Maloney Professor of Business Law and the founding director of the Corporate Law Center at Fordham Law, where she taught for 19 years. She has also been a visiting professor at Harvard, Berkeley, Columbia, and Georgetown. Prior to entering academia, Fisch was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP and was a trial attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Justice Department's Honors Program.
