Biography

Jill Gillespie Nation is a Professor at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, specializing in Gynaecologic Oncology within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She received her Bachelor of Science in Medicine in 1975 and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Alberta in 1977. Dr. Nation is also a member of the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute and serves as the Medical Director of Colposcopy Clinics in the Calgary Zone at Alberta Health Services. Her clinical work has seen her operate as a gynecologic cancer surgeon, where she has focused heavily on the management of gynecologic malignancies and pre-invasive cervical abnormalities while also contributing to medical education. Dr. Nation has undergone extensive training, including a Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1983, followed by subspecialty training in Gynaecologic Oncology at the Universities of British Columbia and Manitoba. Currently, her research centers on clinical cancer treatment and the development of screening programs for cervical cancer, with an emphasis on pre-invasive cancers of the female lower genital tract.
