Biography

Jill G. Joseph, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H. is a Professor Emeritus at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. A physician scientist and collaborator, she has committed significant effort to interprofessional and interdisciplinary education research. Joseph conducts various research projects that require collaboration with colleagues from a wide range of disciplines. Her recent work focuses on developing evidence-based solutions to enhance person-centered care and community-engaged nurse-directed care coordination. As a generalist, she has been involved in studies addressing pediatric brain injury, medication errors, improved asthma treatment, and prenatal care for African-American women, among others. Before her tenure at the School of Nursing, Joseph held the position of associate dean for clinical translational research at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and served as a professor of pediatrics. She earned her Master of Public Health and doctorate in Epidemiology from UC Berkeley and has conducted research in New Zealand. Her academic career includes the University of Michigan, where she contributed to research on behavioral and psychosocial aspects of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, facilitating preventive interventions.
