Dr. Jill Lacy

Biography

Dr. Jill Lacy is a Professor in the Department of Medicine, specializing in Medical Oncology at Yale School of Medicine. With over 30 years of experience, she has a substantial clinical practice focused on gastrointestinal malignancies at the Smilow Cancer Center. After completing her MD at Yale in 1978, Dr. Lacy pursued further training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. Her early career was marked by research into Epstein Barr virus-mediated oncogenesis and HIV-associated malignancies during the AIDS epidemic. More recently, her efforts have been devoted to caring for patients with gastrointestinal cancers, including gastroesophageal, pancreatic, and colorectal cancers, and leading therapeutic clinical trials. She has developed and conducted numerous investigator-initiated trials and served as a principal investigator in various cooperative group studies. Dr. Lacy also contributes to the education of medical oncology trainees and has been involved with ASCO in shaping educational initiatives. Her commitment to cancer care is underscored by recognitions such as America's Top Doctors and several honors from the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Her research interests include discovering novel therapeutics for gastrointestinal cancers, and she has played a vital role in developing the clinical trials portfolio at Yale.
