Biography

Jill L. Miller is a Lecturer at Columbia Law School and the principal of Jill Miller & Associates, P.C., a boutique trusts and estates law firm located in New York City and Asbury Park, New Jersey. She specializes in advising individuals and families on estate planning, wealth transfer, charitable planning, and complex probate matters. Professor Miller earned her Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, followed by a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Cornell Law School, and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law. Her professional affiliations include being a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), where she serves as the Downstate Chair through spring 2026. Prior to joining Columbia Law School, Professor Miller taught Wills and Trusts at Fordham Law School for ten years and spent another decade at Cornell Law School, where she was the Director and Adjunct Professor of the Law Estate Planning Practicum.
