I am an urban geographer with a broad interest in housing, planning, and urban governance issues related to precarity and equity. My research focuses on the geographies of "informal" housing, spatial regulation, and everyday planning practices, as well as the interplay of space and gender in city-making. I examine access to land and housing, the concepts of the right to the city, and how "formal" planning practices can produce "informality" in urban landscapes. At Carleton University, I am cross-appointed to the Institute of Political Economy (IPE) and actively participate in the Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACS) Program. I welcome graduate students who are interested in related research areas.
