Dr. Jillian Pierson

Biography

Jillian Pierson focuses on teaching undergraduate courses in social science communication with special attention to cultural issues. She aims to engage students in ongoing conversations about communication and social science, encouraging them to make their own unique contributions. Her goal is for students to see the application of social science in their lives, fostering a sense of perpetual learning throughout their undergraduate years. Pierson has researched and consulted with multinational teams from high-tech companies in the U.S. and Singapore, and has worked with small businesses and non-profit organizations on communication strategies. She has coached numerous young professionals on career development and presentation skills, emphasizing the importance of individuals' unique talents for success. Pierson's theoretical interests include dialectical tensions in relationships, dynamic processes related to ethnic identification, and cultural change. She holds both a master's and a doctorate degree from USC Annenberg.
