Jim Fang joined the faculty at the University of Saskatchewan in 1999 after completing postdoctoral training, followed by an assistant professor position at the University of Alberta. He graduated from China Pharmaceutical University in 1986 and completed his PhD training at King's College London in 1991. Professor Fang teaches courses related to Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmaceutics. His research interests are grounded in the interdisciplinary study of absorption and health effects of polyphenols derived from prairie fruits. Current projects in his lab address the effects of saskatoon berries on inflammation and gut health in elderly volunteers, as well as the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of polyphenols. Furthermore, he investigates the implications of food patterns in rural Canadian prairies for health outcomes. As a part of the Biomedical Environmental Research Cluster, Professor Fang's laboratory is dedicated to advancing knowledge and research in these critical areas.
