Biography

Jim Hansen is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Toronto. He is the author of 'Terror Irish Modernism: Gothic Tradition Burke Beckett' published by SUNY Press in 2009. Currently, he is engaged in various projects including a book-length study of Alfred Hitchcock's films, entitled 'Impossible Demand Hitchcock’s Cinema', and an analysis of G.W.F. Hegel’s Aesthetics that he refers to as 'Speculative Formalism: Hegel, Modernism, Political Theory.' Hansen has contributed articles to numerous journals and collections and has served as Co-Editor for a special issue of 'Contemporary Literature' titled 'Contemporary Literature State.' His teaching interests encompass literary figures such as James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, and Virginia Woolf, as well as filmmakers like the Coen Brothers and Stanley Kubrick, alongside pop-culture phenomena including horror films and graphic novels.
