Dr. Jim Morel

Biography

Jim E. Morel is a Professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M University and holds the Nancy & Ron Stinson Professorship. He serves as the Director of the Center for Large-Scale Scientific Simulations (CLASS). Morel is a Joint Faculty Appointee at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He has a rich academic background with a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of New Mexico, along with a Master’s degree and Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering and Mathematics from Louisiana State University, respectively. His research interests lie in a variety of advanced simulation techniques including discretization, multilevel solution techniques, deterministic particle transport, hybrid deterministic/Monte Carlo methods, and radiation-hydrodynamics. His work plays a significant role in applied national security and computational data sciences, contributing significantly to the field of Nuclear Engineering.
