Dr. Jim Watson

Biography

Jim Watson is a Professor of Energy Policy and Director of the UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources at University College London. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and serves on the UK Executive Committee of the European Energy Research Alliance. Watson holds numerous advisory roles, including chairing the Technical Advisory Group for the World Bank's Energy Sector Management Assistance Programme and judging the Kings Awards for Sustainability. With thirty years of research experience, he has been instrumental in advising Parliamentary committees on issues related to energy security and climate change. His previous roles include Research Director at the UK Energy Research Centre and Director of the Sussex Energy Group at the University of Sussex. Watson's international experience includes serving as a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University and participating in studies on Green Technologies in South Africa. His research interests align with sustainable energy management and the intersection of energy policy and climate action.
