Jim began his research career applying Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques to forest management, later moving to explore geospatial aspects of public health and nutrition food systems in Zimbabwe for his PhD. After relocating to Southampton, he coordinated multi-disciplinary projects funded by the European Union, Natural Environment Research Council, Medical Research Council, Medical Research Foundation, Economic and Social Research Council, and the Royal Society, collaborating closely with colleagues in Ghana and Kenya.
