Biography

Jim received his B.A. from the University of Chicago, followed by a PhD from the University of Wisconsin. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Sussex in the early 1990s and subsequently took a lectureship at the University of New South Wales in Australia. Jim has been at the University of Edinburgh since 2000. His research interests primarily focus on Euclidean harmonic analysis, including oscillatory integrals, generalised singular maximal Radon transforms, and stability issues related to these objects. He is also interested in discrete analogues of problems within harmonic analysis and their interactions with number theory. Jim has participated as an invited speaker at various conferences, including the NSF FRG Conference in October 2007 and the BIRS Conference in April 2008, and has been involved in scientific committees for significant workshops.
