Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Jin Kim. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Dr. Kim’s research interest is broadly described in applied mathematics applications, modeling, experimental characterization of material behaviors. Current research focuses on the development of measurement techniques and mathematical models for quantitative nondestructive evaluation (NDE) of nuclear, aerospace, and civil engineering materials. With 20 years of experience in ultrasonic NDE and related research areas, Dr. Kim specializes in ultrasonic wave propagation, micromechanics, and fatigue fracture analysis. His past research in aerospace material NDE has attracted more than $3 million in research projects and has addressed important NDE issues such as safety and the aging of aircraft structures, including the prediction of remaining lifetime. Dr. Kim has authored or co-authored 140 technical papers and book chapters in these areas, with research supported by the FAA, DARPA, DOE, USAF, NASA, FHWA, NSF, and Corning Co.
